Ice Skating 2010 with Grace Church

Skating is fun!

Leah was so excited to be ice skating. She did just fine without me. I thought she would be all over the ice, but she did very well. At one point, one of the boys from her Sunday school class fell. She went right up to him and tried to help him. She is so loving and caring to everyone.

Her lips were a bit chapped and she had a scratch on her nose. I caught her nose with my finger nail. But she was still smiling!

Joshua David (9)
Joshua has a wonderful time skating. This is his second time going and he did pretty well. He would zoom all over the ice rink. When he would fall....he would dive. But then get himself right back up and keep on going!

Leah Gabrielle (4)

This was Leah's first time skating. I didn't bring her the first time we went last year, because she and Paul were still a little young for me to take them by myself. I asked if she wanted to go with Joshua and Samuel this year and she was more than excited to go. I was not sure if I would be able to skate this year because of arthritis in my knee...so I was taking a chance whether they would even let me on the ice without skates to help her. When we got there, the people who work at the rink said that I couldn't go out on the ice without ice skates on. So I asked Leah if she wanted to skate with Joshua and Samuel without me. She just wanted to get out on the ice. So we got skates and paid for her to skate. Once she got the skates on, she was ready to go. She was walking around on the skates with no problems. So I walked her to the opening and told her to stay close to the wall. She went right in. She went down a couple of times, but got right back up. After only a couple of minutes, some of the girls from the youth/college group asked her if she wanted some help. She gladly accepted and off she went. I think she liked it best when she went on her own though. She seemed to have more control. She went a lot slower by herself, but she was perfectly content.

Samuel Joseph (7)
This was Samuel's second time ice skating. He has improved much since last year. He was falling all over the ice last time...but quickly learned that if he stays close to the wall, he can get around the rink. This year he gets off the wall a lot more, but still likes to stay close for support. When I asked him, "What do you like better...roller skating or ice skating? " He answered with a big smile "Ice Skating!"
